TUFONE VOICE PEERING NETWORK
Link your network and exchange VoIP
traffic directly cut rising phone traffic costs by bypassing the
PSTN
Tufone's
Voice Peering is a distributed network that allows members
to
interconnect
and
establish peer to peer connections for the direct exchange of VoIP traffic. The network permits
members to send and receive calls between themselves These calls remain within the IP domain
and bypass the PSTN. Using
the Internet Engineering Task Force’s ENUM protocol to allow providers of VoIP
service to terminate one another’s calls, a peering partner that has the
intended call recipient’s phone number in its database, can transmit these
calls without the use of the public switched telephone network(PSTN).
Peering is a model of interconnecting networks allowing IP and
its VoIP traffic to be carried between service providers and companies without
the need to pay a middle-man. By using session border controllers
placed between the service providers, a ‘translation service’ is
provided between the caller and the recipient who uses a different
provider.
Tufone's
Voice Peering was created with open network architecture thereby allowing 3rd
party applications to be easily incorporated into the network. The goal is to enable
VoIP carriers as well as enterprises that have turned to VoIP to interconnect
their networks in a manner that calls originating or terminating as VoIP are
carried over TDM networks as little as possible.
Tufone VoIP
Peering provides the infrastructure for VOIP carriers to exchange traffic. As
part of the service, Tufone has developed a Website where members of the TVP can
see which carriers are offering minutes at what price. This system streamlines the process of
finding a peering partner. Instead of going through a broker, members of
the Tufone Peering can go to the Website and bid on each other’s
capacity.
The service helps VOIP providers
competing with U.S. Bell operating providers and large long-distance carriers
compete even more cost effectively for local and
long-distance telephony services
